Help Leigh continue her work! Arms of Love is a small orphanage that can only help a
few children at a time. With your help, Leigh's aim is to be financially capable of caring
for a total of 10 orphans who desperately need a home.
Any small donation would be greatly appreciated and will go directly towards funding the orphanage. You can help us in many different ways. Click on the links below to find out more.

Leigh Ross, |
Thank you for your generosity.
Below is a list -- written in Leigh's own words -- of her most pressing needs right now and into the future. This will give you an idea of how your donation will be used.
"We need more workers to keep up with them and to take in more babies. More babies means more support. We have found a man that builds playground equipment which we will really need. Someone donated the children their first stroller "pram" and you should have seen the looks on their faces as they went on their first safari down the road."
"We desperatly need more people who are willing to come and do volunteer work in our orphanage. If I have to go away, Bancy will be on her own to take care of the children. I completely trust Bancy but she is just 23."
"Shoes are impossible to find here. The children are wearing 10's but are out growing them so fast. Some people have sent us some shoes in the past few months, but we never have enough of them."
More than anything we need your support to help us give good education to the children.Next January Joel will start to school. Then the following year, Merci, Alex, Joseph and Matthew will follow. Primary schools in Kenya are now free up to form 1. There are 600 to 1000 students in one class with one teacher, sometimes there'll be a helper... To give them better learning conditions, we can decide to home school them, which would be much more time consuming (again, this has a real cost too, and we'll probably also need at least one more helper) but with more one on one. A good alternative would be an ACE (American Program) that we're looking at for the children, but it is very expensive, costing around $250 a term. That is our main concern at this time. Your financial support can change the immediate future of these children, and probably far beyond. |
"In just a few years the children will be sent to private schools as there may as well not be any public schools here for all they are worth. For each child it's $100 a month plus uniforms. We'll most likely home school the children until we can afford to send them to a private school.
"After that, if they qualify, they will go on to university. For those who don't qualify they will be taught a skill that will enable them to make a living for themselves."
"We also plan to buy each child a small plot of land to help them get started. Owning a piece of land is very important to Kenyans and this guarantees that they will have something of their own that cannot be sold but passed down to their family."
"After we have 10 children for a while, I will look at expanding but not in this location. Hopefully someday we will be able to buy some land and build our own orphan home, a larger place that will enable us to bring in more children. There are hundreds of thousands of orphaned, abandoned, abused and HIV positive babies out there just waiting for someone to offer them Arms of Love. With God's will and your support we will do just that.
